Clitheroe Castle held a weekend of exciting sword fighting to celebrate St George’s Day, which is today, April 23.
The action-packed event dubbed ‘Slay Boredom’ enthralled visitors with a weekend of swordsmanship from experts in medieval combat.
The free show took place on Saturday and Sunday, April 20 and 21, with the experts exhibiting medieval combat techniques to give visitors a taste of how knights and warriors of old used their swords.
The 12th-century castle welcomed the popular Academie Glorianna from the British Federation for Swordsmanship.
Visitors were able to talk to the experts about the art of European historical combat, see demonstrations, handle weapons, and listen to talks about styles and techniques of swordplay.
Throughout April, young museum explorers can also enjoy searching for toy dragons hidden at the museum, with the winner receiving a goodie bag full of items from the museum shop.
There is also the chance to take part in the daily children's craft, in which children can decorate their very own ceramic dragon decoration to take home. Crafts are £2.50 and are available from the admissions desk.
